We do not make exceptions to the policy for Covid or other viral sickness, area power or water outages, weather in your area or ours, nature, Wifi outages, park closures or other issues beyond our control.
No. The guest count shown for each accommodation is the max amount of guests allowed and it includes anyone staying, whether an adult (13 & up) or a child (12 & under).  We do make some exceptions for children under 3 who might co-sleep; however, we do not provide extra bedding and do not have cribs or playpens.

We provide self check-in information to your email 7 days prior to your arrival with directions and access information. “Self Check-in” means that you’re given the information necessary to arrive at your property on your own. This is especially helpful if you’re planning a late arrival: no need to be here at any specific time! Please make sure you have the check-in information before you make the drive to Terlingua. If you can’t find your check-in information be sure to check your “junk” or “spam” folder.

Check-in is any time after 3 p.m., Central time.

Checkout is by 10 a.m., Central time.

We have a self check-in process that allows folks to come any time they’d like. No need to check in with us if you’re expecting a late arrival.  However, if it is your first time in the area we do encourage you to arrive before dark.

We are available to respond to emails from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week. If you reach out after hours we will respond to you the following morning.
7 days prior to your arrival date, you will be provided with two phone numbers to reach us during your stay, our reservation number and our after-hours emergency number.

Our accommodations are located in Terlingua, Texas, near Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. You can view maps for our accommodations by clicking here. The closest commercial airports to Terlingua are Midland International Air and Space Port, Del Rio International Airport and El Paso International Airport. There are no transportation companies (Uber, Lyft, etc.) or taxis in Terlingua.

No, we do not allow pets at any of our properties and there is a $300 fee for violation of the pet policy and you will forfeit your reservation. If you are traveling with a certified service animal, you must let us know before your arrival. We do not allow emotional support animals.

Yes! We love kids, however, anyone 13 and over must be counted as an adult. For example 2 adults and their 14 year old child would need to be counted as 3 adults.

Yes! Terlingua Jeep Rentals has Jeep Gladiators and a Vanderhall Roadster available for full day and multi-day rentals.

We do not allow RVs, campers or trailers to be parked at most of our Basecamp, Adventure and Agave properties due to the nature of our roads and tight parking areas. However, Bubble Terlingua has ample room for RVs. If in doubt, contact us at

We have 6 Luxury tipis, 6 Lotus tents, 4 tent campsites and a Nomad Tipi. You can book a Tipi, a Lotus Tent or a tent campsite here – Adventure Terlingua.  Our availability calendar won’t show how many are available for each day so if you are looking to book for a group and need more than one tent or tipi, please email us at and we will help!

Yes and no. The Tipis and Lotus Tents are not sealed or insulated so you should still consider your stay as a “glamping” experience that does not include traditional air conditioning or heat.
In the summer, the Tipis and Lotus Tents include an evaporative cooler. However, the evaporative cooler will not completely cool the entire Tipi or Lotus Tent and it will still be warm in peak summer days.  In the winter, we provide a small space heater and an electric blanket. If it is cold outside, it will be cold inside your Tipi or Lotus Tent. If staying in a Tipi or Lotus Tent please prepare appropriately for the weather forecast.
We urge you to be reasonable about your personal expectations regarding comfort.  If the Tipis or Lotus Tents do not seem like a good fit for you, we have several other accommodations that include traditional AC/heat.  Please note that we do not issue refunds due to weather or personal discomfort because of the temperature.

We pay for the fastest service available in the Big Bend region. All of our properties, including the tipis, have access to WiFi. This does not in any way guarantee internet will be available for your stay, however, we will do our best to fix internet issues before 5pm. We are incredibly remote (which is probably why you’re coming to visit us!) and county-wide outages are a real thing.

The Two Room Bubble Plus Pool has a private pool and hot tub.

Both of the Rafiki Ridge units have a private pool.

Each Deluxe Two Room Bubble has a private hot tub.

The Two Room Bubble has a private hot tub.

The ten Bubbles at Bubble Terlingua share a communal pool and each of the Bubbles include a private hot tub.

Luna Nova has a private pool.

You must be staying at the specific accommodation to use the pool and/or hot tub. We do not sell day passes for the pools or hot tubs.

All of our properties come with fire pits, but no, we do not provide or sell firewood. You can purchase firewood and many other supplies at Cottonwood grocery store in Study Butte (about 5 miles away). The gas station usually has firewood as well. Year-round campfires are allowed at our properties even when the county is under a burn ban.

Venga Cafe is our new cafe and gear store, located at 45 Kempf Road. Check out the menu at Venga Cafe.

Starlight Theater, High Sierra Bar and Grill, Chili Pepper Cafe, DBs Rustic Iron BBQ and Big Bend Motor Inn Cafe are all within 5 miles of our properties. Your in-room binder will have specifics about all the restaurants in the area. You can find more information about the area here –

Yes! Venga Cafe offers a cool, artsy vibe with indoor and outdoor seating and is available to rent for private events – Venga Private Events Page.   Contact for more information.

You will receive an email with self check-in instructions 7 days prior to your arrival date. This will have directions, information about accessing the property and lots of other important information to make your stay comfortable and safe! Please keep an eye out for this as it can often end up in a spam or junk folder.
As always, feel free to reach out to us over email if you have questions not covered in these FAQ’s.
We are in the Chihuahuan desert. That means you might come across critters, both indoors and out. Snakes, scorpions and other wildlife are part of what makes this area so wonderfully wild. Please be aware of your surroundings, and watch your step. (We recommend bringing a flashlight as there are no streetlights in Terlingua!)
Utility outages are also a common experience for everyone who lives and frequently visits the area: If you experience a power or internet outage it is likely happening for everyone in the area and can often take over 2 hours to restore, as crews are dispatched out of Alpine. And while our water crew is locally based, we are on a rural system. Outages are rarely longer than a few hours, but they do occasionally happen. If you find yourself experiencing any of these issues while staying with us feel free to reach out by email and we will let you know if we have updates on when things will be up and running again.
We provide this information ahead of time so you know what to reasonably expect when visiting the area. We do not provide refunds for situations out of our control, but we will do our best to make sure you are comfortable.
Check out for lots of useful info about the area.
